Best Beaches in Goa

Goa is the smallest state of India. This is a heaven for those who are interested in sun and sand. The state is one of the top tourist attractions in India which is famous for its mesmerizing beaches. It has 103 km coastline. This was once a Portuguese colony and thus has a rich and evident Portuguese influence on its culture. Although all the beaches of Goa have something unique to offer to its visitors, we have listed below a few of the best beaches of the state.

Palolem Beach:

Palolem Beach is a beautiful crescent-shaped beach. You can view the entire beach from either end. The both ends of the beach have rocks jutting out into the sea. The depth of the sea increases gradually, being shallowest at the northern end of the beach. The northern end is safe for swimming. The main Palolem road is the best place for shopping in south Goa. There are a variety of clothing and jewellery stores to choose from and also plenty of good restaurants.

Calangute Beach:

Calangute beach is the largest beach in North Goa. The best tourist season time here is during Christmas and New Year, and also in May. During the monsoon season, swimming is prohibited as the sea is rough. The beach offers water sport activities like parasailing and water skiing also.

Mandrem Beach:

Mandrem Beach is a tranquil beach situated in North Goa. This is a serene, scenic and secluded beach. The beautiful beach is a particular favorite honeymoon destination. You can go around and explore the small village. The clear waters here are safe for swimming. You should also visit the eateries to enjoy local food.

Agonda Beach:

Agonda Beach is a clean and serene beach of the state. It is considered as one of the most scenic beaches in Asia. This is an ideal spot for meditation. Tourists can go on country boat for dolphin spotting. The nearby worth visit places are Cabo de Rama and Cola beach.

Baga Beach:

Baga Beach is one of the most popular tourist spots of the state. The place is known for its beach parties, nightlife and amazing seafood served at its beach shacks, beach huts and restaurants. It is best to visit the beach while peak season as you can find, the beach lined with rows of shacks. It is also famous for its water sports and dolphin cruises. The beach also offers water sports such as windsurfing and dolphin cruises. This beach is the venue of the National Wind Surfing Championship held between September and November each year.

Candolim Beach:

Candolim Beach is a famous beach located near to Baga. This is one among the most beautiful beaches in India. The beach is located to the south of the famous Calangute beach. This is about 15 kms from Panjim, the capital city. This beach is also one of the longest beaches in the state. The main Candolim-Calangute Road is packed with shops and restaurants. The other major attraction here is the ship River Princess, which has been stuck at the shores of the beach since 2000 and ever since become quite a tourist attraction in itself. The nearby attractions of the beach are Aguada Fort, lighthouse and the barracks of the Aguada Jail.
