    Mahabaleshwar is a city in Satara district of Maharashtra. It is a hill station in the Western Ghats range. The highest peak of the hill station is known as Wilson/Sunrise Point. The city comprises of three villages namely Malcolm Peth, Old "Kshetra" Mahabaleshwar and part of the Shindola village. The place is also the source of the famous Krishna river. The legendary source of the river is a spout from the mouth of a statue of a cow in the ancient temple of Lord Shiva in Old Mahabaleshwar.     Kate's point:  The point is about 1280 mts high. The place is famous for its view of two reservoirs, Balakwadi and Dhom.

    Needle hole point/Elephant point: Near to the Kate’s point is Elephant point. There is a natural rock formation with a hole in between, and hence the place got the name Needle hole point. The view of Deccan traps from here is very famous which look like an elephant's trunk.

    Wilson Point: This is the highest point in Mahabaleshwar located at 1439 m height. This was known as Sindola Hill during the colonial rule. This is the only spot in Mahabaleshwar where both sunrise and sunset can be seen.

    3 Monkey Spot: The spot is named so because of the natural sculpture of the stones which looks like three monkeys sitting beside each other. The place is nestled deep in the valleys and you can figure out from the outline of a big stone a natural cut out giving an effect of 3 monkey sitting next to each other portraying SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL, SPEAK NO EVIL.     Pratapgad Fort: The fort was built by Shivaji Maharaj. The fort is popular for in History of India as Knight of Vijapur Afzalkhan was defeated and killed by Shivaji Maharaj at Pratapgad.
