    Tirupati is a cultural city in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. This is one of the richest pilgrimage cities of any religious faith in the world. The famous Tirumala Venkateswara Temple is located about 20kms to the north west of the city in the Tirumala hills at an elevation of 853 metres. This is the second richest Hindu temple in the world.

    Tirupati Balaji Temple: The main attraction of Tirupati is the Sri Venkateshwara Temple located at the hilltop of the Tirumala hills. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple is made on the basis of Dravidian architecture.

    Sri Govindrajaswamy Temple: The second most visited temple in Tirupati is Sri Govindrajaswamy Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. There are temples of Sri Andal, Sri Parthasarathy and Sri Venkateswara within the premises of the temple.

    Sri Kapileswaraswami Temple: The temple is located at the base of the Tirumala hills.  Sri Kapileswaraswami Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has an attractive architectural beauty.  There is a beautiful waterfall also here, Known by the name, Kapila Teertham.

    Sri Kodandaramaswami Temple: The temple is located at the centre of Tirupati city. This temple is dedicated to Lord Rama, Mata Sita and Sri Lakshmana along with Sri Hanuman. It is believed that this temple was built to commemorate Lord Rama's journey to Tirupati.

    Sri Kalyana Venkateswaraswami Temple: The temple is dedicated to Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swami and is located at a distance of 12 km from Tirupati. It is believed that it is here on the banks of the Kalyani River that Venkateswaraswami resided in his journey to Tirupati.

    Tiruchanur: This is a popular tourist spot in Tirupati located about 5 kms from the city. Sri Padmavathi Devi temple is located here. It is believed that the trip to Tirupati is incomplete without visiting the home temple of Sri Padmavathi Devi located here.

    Chandragiri: The place is located at a distance of 11 kms from Tirupati. The place is famous for its palaces and forts. The famous Chandragiri Fort is situated here on an elevated rock which is 180 meters high.  

    The best time to visit Tirupati is from November to March. Tirupati is well connected by road, rail and air transport.
