Odisha (formerly known as Orissa) is an East Indian state known for its tribal cultures and its many ancient Hindu temples. This beautiful state shares about 450 kms of the Indian coastline. The silver sand, the crystalline blue skies and the calm waters make the beaches here more attractive and relaxing. The state is also blessed with rich natural beauty, impressive waterfalls, forest-clad blue hills of Eastern Ghats with rich wild life and also beautiful unexplored beaches. Chandipur Beach:

Chandipur beach is a calm and beautiful beach of the state. Here the sea water goes back approximately 5 kms during low tide and advances back to the shore during high tide everyday. The Beach offers a truly unique and captivating sight. The best time to visit is from September and March. The nearest airport is at Bhubaneswar at about 230kms. The nearest railway station is at Balasore about 16 kms away.

Gopalpur Beach:

Gopalpur beach is also known as sailor’s paradise. This is a serene quiet beach with the remnants of the pillars of an old jetty and a port. The beach is safe for both surfing and sailing. The best time to visit is from September to March. The nearest airport is at Bhubaneswar at about 190kms away. The nearest railway station is at Berhampur.

Puri Beach:

Puri Beach is the busiest beach of the state for its close proximity to the temple of famous Jagannath Puri. The beach is considered sacred and is famous for pilgrims purifying dips. The best time is between September and March. The nearest airport is Bhubaneswar just 60kms away from Sri Jagganath Puri. Puri is well connected to all major cities by rail and road transport.

Konark Beach:

Konark Beach is located at a distance of about 3 kms from the famous Konark Sun Temple. This is rated as one of the most excellent beach in the world. The beach is also known as Chandrabhaga. Travellers can enjoy leisurely walks observing sunrise and sunbathing. This is an all time tourist destination. The nearest airport is at Bhubaneswar about 65 kms away. The nearest Railway station is at Puri about 33 kms away. Every year from December 1-5, the Konark festival is organized by the department of Tourism.

Paradeep Beach:

Paradeep Beach is a beautiful beach located on the confluence of the river Mahanadi and the Bay of Bengal. The clear blue water, green forest, stones along side the beach, a good marine drive and the biggest port makes it the best tourist destination. Travellers can enjoy sunbathing and strolling here. The best time to visit is from November to March. The nearest airport is Bhubaneswar at about 125kms from the beach and the nearest railway station is at Cuttack, at about 94 kms.
