Netarhat is a beautiful hill station in Latehar district of the State. The place is also known as the ‘Queen of Chotanagpur’. The hill station offers stunning views of sunsets and sunrises during summer months. The main places to visit here are Magnolia Point, Upper Ghaghri Falls, Lower Ghaghri Falls, Koel View Point, Lodh falls and Sadni Falls.

 

The hill station is located at an elevation of 1,071 m. The climate here is mild, mostly warm and temperate. The average annual temperature here is 23.8 Degree Celsius. In summer, it has a very cool climate. You can find here patches of pines and cypresses grown by the Forest Department. Apples and peaches are also grown here. There are many flowering trees mainly of Bauhinia and Cassia species.

 

Adventure seekers can trek through the pine forest located about 2 kms from the city center. You can experience the beauty of the hill station at its most by trekking. Jungle trek can be done with proper guide. The forest area here is more colder and has a pleasant atmosphere than the rest of the  city.

 

Local food available here is a mixture of Bihari and Bengali cuisines. Lazez Restaurant is one of the popular restaurants here serving typical North Indian dishes.

Sati Hills are located at Barkagaon, in Hazaribagh district of the State. The place is known for abnormally large sized caves full of beautiful cave paintings. According to the reports of the archaeological study made here, the caves must have been large enough to accommodate more than 200 people in sitting position. There is a small stream of water that flows along the side of the cave throughout the year. Small hillocks near these caves have numerous engravings of animals like buffaloes, deers and tigers. There are also many images of male and female forms with their arms raised in these caves. Apart from that there are many intriguing carvings of human figures carrying dead animals on their backs or sitting together.

 

Parasnath Hills:

Parasnath Hills is located at an elevation of 4500 ft. These are a range of hills located in Giridih district of the State. This is the most important Jain pilgrimage centre of the State. The hill got its name after Parasnath, the 23rd Tirthankara. There are shrines for all the 9 Tirthankara’s who attained salvation in the hill. Some of them are about 2,000 years old. The people of Santhal tribe here call the hill as Marang Buru, the hill of the deity. The main festival celebrated here is a hunting festival which is on the full moon day in Baisakh ie; middle of April.

 

The best time to visit is from October to March. Parasnath Hill is the best trekking part of the state. The nearest railway station is Parasnath railway station, from there is two paths for trekking. One is from Nimiaghat while other is through Madhuban. The only possible way and the most chose way by the travellers is to go to Madhuban and then hike 13 Km on foot. Trekking takes around 4 hours and the view from top is awesome.


Ranchi Hill:

Ranchi Hill is located at an elevation of 2,140 ft above sea level. This is one of the most visited tourist attractions of the state. The hill top offers a panoramic view of the town and the surroundings. There is a temple devoted to Lord Shiva on the top of the hill. The main festival time is during the occasion of Sravan Mela. At that time, thousands of pilgrims from all parts visit the place. At the foot of the Ranchi Hill is a lake, known as Ranchi Lake, which enhances the beauty of the place. Tourists can go trekking and rock climbing here. This makes the place an adventure lovers paradise.

 

The best time to visit here is from October to May. At this time the temperatures are low and the weather is pleasant. This is a beautiful hill and a must visit place in Ranchi.

 

Khandoli Pahari:

Khandoli Pahari is located at about 8 Kms. from Giridih district of Jharkhand. The hill has a peculiar shape of a saddle and is made up of Granitoid gneiss. The peak appears similar to a volcanic cone and has a great saddle consisting of massive boulders attached to it. Elephant and camel safaris are available here. This is wonderful place to visit. After climbing to the top of the hill we can see a perfect view of the whole area. Tourists visit here in large numbers during the winter months for bird-watching due to the presence of migratory birds in the area. There is a lake called Khandoli Lake at the bottom of the hill. Every year thousands of migratory birds arrive at Khandoli lake.

 

The place is a popular spot for aerial, mountaineering and water related adventure sports. Aerial adventure activities include hot air ballooning, paragliding and parasailing from both land and water. Khandoli Hill has a huge range of granite rocks with various shapes, offering varied challenges to rock climbers in rock climbing, rappelling, river Crossing (zip-line), trekking. The reservoir of Khandoli dam in Khandoli lake is used by pedal boats, speed boats and water scooters for water related adventure activities such as scuba diving, rafting, canoeing, sailing, kayaking, ringo ride, waterskiing and surfing. Large numbers of adventure lovers arrive here every year to engage in water sports.
