Ranikhet is a hill station in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. Ranikhet was previously under the Nepalese Rule, and the people of Kumaon Region won it under the leadership of their General Kashi Nath Adhikari with the help of Britishers at around 1816. The best time to visit here is fron March to October. Ranikhet is popular for its tasty apples, apricots, peaches and various alpine fruits.

The main tourist spots in Ranikhet are:

Chaubatia Gardens: The Garden is famous for its apple orchards. It is about 10 kms from Ranikhet. You can also buy fresh juices and honey from Chaubatia Gardens. The scenic views of the snow capped peaks of the mighty Himalayan range can be very well seen from Chaubatia Gardens.

Golf Course: Ranikhet Golf Course is located about 5 kms from Ranikhet city. This is one of the highest golf courses of Asia.  The golf club provides memberships for outsiders too.

Ashiyana Park: This Park is specially designed & developed on jungle theme for children.

St. Bridget Church: This is an old church in Ranikhet town.

Tarikhet: The place is known for the Gandhi Kuti, and the temple of Golu Devta there. It is situated about 8 Kms from Ranikhet.

Mankameshwar Temple: This temple was constructed by the Kumaon regiment.  There is a Gurudwara and a Shawl factory opposite to the temple.

Majkhali: This picnic spot is about 12 kms from Ranikhet. The place also offers a close view of the snowy Himalayas with peaceful surroundings.

Haidakhan Temple (Chilianaula): The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated about 4 kms from Ranikhet. From this temple, the picturesque Himalayan peaks are very well visible.

Jhula Devi Temple: The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. It is located about 7 kms from Ranikhet. There are numerous bells hung in the temple and hence the temple got its name. Near to this temple is the Ram Mandir.

Syalikhet: This is a picnic spot in Ranikhet popular for its scenic beauty. It is located about 25 kms from Ranikhet. It is a scenic spot with unparallel beauty situated at a distance of 25kms from Ranikhet. The famous temple of Syahi Devi is situated here.

Katarmal (Sun Temple): This is the second most important Sun temple in India. It is more than 800years old. The temple is situated about 25kms from Ranikhet. There are beautiful sculptures in this temple.

Bhalu Dam or Baludham: The dam site is open for all the tourists throughout the year. There is an artificial small lake.  This is an ideal spot for camping and picnicking.

KRC (Kumaon Regimental Centre) Museum: The museum houses the history of Kumaon and Garhwal regiments. It also displays valuable treasures like Rani Jhasi's silver scepter, Chinese rifles from the 1962 war, a World War-II Japanese wireless field telephone and documents related to the Kargil War.

The nearest railway station to Ranikhet is Kathgodam and the nearest airport is Pantnagar.
