Valparai is a hill station in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. The place is also popularly known as the Cherrapunji of South India. This is a newly explored tourist spot located in the Anamalai hills of Western ghats. There are beautiful forest and tea gardens with many streams, dams, valleys, waterfalls, high mountains, grass lands, flora and fauna. Places to visit in Valparai are:

Aanamalai wildlife sanctuary: This wildlife sanctuary is located at an altitude of 1,400 meters near Pollachi. The sanctuary covers a total area of 958 sq kms. This sanctuary is filled with various fauna like green Pigeon, Pangolin, Sloth Bear, Panther, Elephant, Tiger, Gaur, Deer etc.

Aaliyar dam: In the foot hills of Valparai at a distance of 24 kms from Pollachi is the Aaliyar dam. This is a famous picnic spot.

Birla Falls: This waterfall is located 2kms from Valparai. This beautiful falls is situated in the Sholayar estate surrounded by tea fields.

Sidhi Vinayagar temple: The temple is at just 5 kms from Valparai and is situated in a very beautiful garden environment.  

Manompally forest: This reserve forest is located at about 20 kms from the town. The forest provides adventurous treks and can also sight some of endangered species. Prior permission is required to trek in the forest.

Grass Hills: The Grass Hills form a part of Indira Gandhi National Park. This is a remnant of the unique Shola grasslands found only in the higher reaches of the Western Ghats. The Nilgiri tahr and Nilgiri Pipit found here are not found anywhere in the world. The hills are covered with lush green meadows. Prior permission is required to trek to the hills.

Nallamudi- Pooncholai(valley view): The valley view is located about 15kms from Valparai. The spot offers an excellent view of the Anaimudi peak, the highest peak in South India. There are many tribal settlements near the place.

Monkey falls: The falls is located 4kms from the Azhiyar Park, near the Valparai- Navamalai diversion. This place is one of the purest sources of minerals and ayurvedic formulations.

Loams view point: This is located at the 9th hairpin bend of the Valparai. The view point here offers panoramic views of the Azhiyar dam. The endangered Nilgiri Tahr is also find here.

Tiger valley: The valley is located 35 kms enroute Valparai. The valley provides a spectacular view of Kadamparai and the upper Azhiyar projects.

Balaji temple: The temple is located approximately 10 kms from Valparai. The temple is located amidst beautiful tea gardens. There is also a play area and a lawn for children.

Iraichal parai falls: The waterfall is located about 8 kms from Valparai near the Balaji temple.

Chinna Kallar: This is one of the wettest places in India. The waterfalls here can be reached by an adventurous trek upon a hanging bridge built by the British.
