Panchgani

Panchgani is a famous hill station in Satara district of Maharashtra. The beautiful hill station is often referred as “the Switzerland of India”. The place is in the middle of five hills in the Sahyadri mountain ranges. The scenic beauty of Krishna Valley, the cultivated fields and picturesque view of the backwater of Dhom Dam adds to the beauty of Panchgani.

The main tourist attractions in Panchgani:

Table Land: This plateau is like the top tip of Panchgani. The main things to do here is horse riding, mini train travel, etc. There are also a few food stalls and game counters.

Devil's Kitchen: To the south of the table land is the Devil's Kitchen. It is believed that the Pandavas of the Mahabharat epic had stayed here.

Bhilar Water Fall: The waterfall is only clearly visible during monsoons. The source of the falls is the Kudali river.

Rajapuri Caves: The caves are located about 10 km from Panchgani. These caves are within a temple dedicated to Lord Karthikeya son of God Shiva.  There are stone plates with inscriptions on the entrance of the caves. Mainly there are four caves. The water bath found in the first cave is known as “Kund”, which keeps on being filled from the mouth of sacred “Gomukh”. It is believed that the water flowing from the mouth of the cow is from Mahabaleshwar, situated 20 kms away from Panchgani. The fourth cave has a very old image of Lord Kartikeya.

Parsi Point:  The place got this name as it was the favourite spot of the Parsi community. From here you can very well enjoy the eye-catching views of the Krishna Valley.
