Dandeli is a town located in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. This place can be visited at any time except on summer season as could see fewer animals and also miss white-water rafting. The town is rich in wildlife. You can sight a wide variety of birds here such as hornbills, kingfishers, darters, egrets, etc. Tourists can have an open jeep safari through the reserved forests spotting wild animals such as tigers, elephants, wild buffalo, bears, wild boars etc, and can also watch more than 400 species of birds like the hornbill, pied hornbill, dragons, babblers, white itios, greater spotted eagle etc.

Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is a must visit place here. This covers an area of 866.41 sq.kms. The main inhabitant in the sanctuary is the Gaur or the Indian Bison. As once they were plenty in the sanctuary it was also known as 'Bison Sanctuary'. The other animals in the sanctuary include elephants, tigers, black panthers, wild pigs, sloth bears, wild dogs, jackal, sambar, spotted deer, barking deer, mouse deer, common langur, bonnet macaque, several species of snakes, etc.

Syntheri Rock: This is 300ft tall monolithic granite rock located deep inside the thick Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary. The Kaneri River flows gushing by its side. To reach this beautiful sculpture you need a jeep ride as well as a walk through the picturesque jungle.

Sykes point: This is one of the most beautiful picnic spot in Karnataka. From here you can very enjoy the scenic beauty of the lush green forests and also the peacefully flowing beautiful Kali River. You can reach here either by jeep or by trekking.  

Supa Dam: The dam is located about 25 Kms from the City. The dam is used to produce Electrical power under KPC.

Nagajhari point: The spot is located about 14 kms from Dandeli inside the forest.  It offers eye-catching view of the hills and the valley.

Kavala Caves: These caves are situated about at a distance of 25 kms from the base camp at Dandeli. A trek covering a thousand steps is needed to reach the entrance. These caves stand as silent witness of human inhabitation here during prehistoric times. Here you can see a naturally formed Shiva Linga inside the caves.

The place also offers its tourists many water based adventurous activities such as white water rafting, rappelling, kayaking and coracle riding.

The best time to visit Daneli is between October and May. The nearest airport to Dandeli is in Belgaum. The nearest railway station is at Alnavar Junction.
