    Lahaul and Spiti is a district of Himachal Pradesh. This is famous for its various high altitude trek trails and a rich Tibetan influenced culture.     Ki-Gompa (Key Gompa): This 11th century monastery is the largest of the Buddhist Monasteries located in Lahaul and Spiti. This is located at a scenic spot on the top of a hill. You can enjoy some amazing breathtaking views of the valley below from this monastery.

    Kunzum Pass: This is one of the famous high altitude passes in Himachal Pradesh. It is located at an average elevation of 4,590 meters above sea level. The Pass is famous for its various trek spots which give way to the hidden Moon Lake. This pass connects the Lahaul valley and Spiti valley to the Kullu valley.

    Dhankar Gompa: The monastery is located at a beautiful location atop a 300 meter high hillock. Due to its harsh and inaccessible roads this is considered as one of the 100 most endangered sites in the world. This spot provides most amazing views of the surroundings.

    Pin Valley National Park: This National Park is located in the cold desert area of the Spiti valley and is known for being a habitat to the various endangered animals species like the snow leopard and the Siberian Ibex. The Park is reputed as the ‘land of ibex and snow leopards’. This Park also houses rare medicinal herbs and various endangered plant species.

    Tabo Monastery: This is one of the oldest operating Buddhist monasteries in India. The Monastery is protected by the Archeological Survey of India and is also a UNESCO world heritage site. This is often referred as the ‘Ajanta of the Himalayas’ due to its various rock paintings and stone carvings.

    The best time to visit Lahaul & Spiti is from mid May to mid October, since the district is snowbound area. The nearest railway station to Lahaul and Spiti is Chandigarh and the nearest airport is Bhunter in Kullu.
