Bir is a village of Himachal Pradesh. This is a famous tourist destination of the State. The main population of this area is refugees from Tibet. You can see here several Buddhist monasteries and a large stupa. This village is a noted centre for ecotourism, spiritual studies and meditation.

Bir attracts adventure seekers from all over the world. The place is popularly known as the Paragliding Capital of India. Every year in the month of October the Department of Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Government of Himachal Pradesh hold a 'Paragliding Pre World Cup' event. This popular global level competition draws a large number of visitors. The ideal time to enjoy paragliding here is during the months of March- May and October-November.

Another adventurous activity here is hang-gliding. The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Corporation provides training courses for this sport every year. Billing located at about 14 kms from the town is the launch pad for the hand gliders and Bir is the landing site.

You can opt a nature walk around the town to enjoy fully the beauty of this small town. These nature walks commence from Bir Tibetan Colony to Baijnath via Sherab Ling monastery and take the tourists from beautiful forests and tea gardens. The Monastery here offers periodic courses in Buddhist meditation and philosophy.

Chokling monastery is one of the most popular monasteries in Bir. There is a huge stupa and also a charming statue of Padmasambhava. The monastery is located in the Bir Tibetan colony.
