UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai released three films directed by Anwar Rasheed at the ongoing World Travel Market (WTM 3-6 November2014) in London on Wednesday in the presence of Minister for Tourism in Kerala, A.P. Anil Kumar. Taleb Rifai said “Kerala has transferred the power of tourism into a force that improves livelihood, protects nature and builds bridges between cultures”
About the Films
Guide - is the story of a shy village student who finds the confidence to become a tourist guide and interact easily with travellers from around the world.
Farmer - shows how an agriculturist in a remote village preserves many varieties of organic seeds and turns his farm into a destination for visitors.
Chefs - A group of homemakers turn themselves into successful entrepreneurs and culinary experts admired by tourists.
The films are based on true events, shot in and around Kumarakom, Wayanad and Alappuzha shows how Responsible Tourism initiative inKerala is helping empower the people and improve their lives while conserving nature. The films were produced by the Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies, the nodal agency for implementing Responsible Tourism.
