    Agartala is the capital city of Tripura. This is the largest city of the state and is rich in natural beauty. The city is home to various tribes. Agartala is famous for its beautiful palaces, monuments, temples and handicrafts.  

    The main places to visit here are:

    Ujjayanta Palace: This Greek styled palace is a must visit place in Agartala. This is now the assembly house of Tripura. You won’t be able to see the whole building as there are some restrictions, but can enter the main gate with an entry pass between 3pm to 4pm. This is a three storeyed castle with three spectacular domes covering over 800 acres.

    Kunjaban Palace: This palace is located near to the Ujjayanta Palace. The southern part of the Palace known as Rabindra Kanan is only open to the public. The rest part of the palace is the official  residence of the Tripura governor.

    Neermahal: This lake palace is the only one of its kind in eastern India. The palace is built in the middle of Lake Rudrasagar. Here you can see a mix of Hindu and Mughal architectural style.

    Jampui Hills: This hill is a beautiful picnic spot of Agartala district.  This hill is 300 ft above sea level and is nearly 200 km from Agartala.

    Debtamura: This place is famous for its rock carvings dating back to 15th and 16th Century. You can see here images of Hindu gods and other deities also.

    Fourteen Goddess Temple: The temple is located about 14 kms from the city. It is said that one who visits this temple, comes in Agartala fourteen times more.

    Trishna Wild Life Sanctuary: The sanctuary is located about 100kms from the city in a place called Belonia. The jungle is noted for its bison and other migratory birds and also different species of monkeys.

    Dumboor Lake: This Lake is situated about 115 km away from the city. The main attractions here are the migratory birds and Water sports.

    The nearest railway station to Agartala is Kumarghat and the nearest airport to Agartala is Agartala airport. The best time to visit is from October to May.
