    Sariska National Park

    Sariska National Park (Sariska Tiger Reserve) is a National Park and wildlife reserve located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. It is located at about 107kms from Jaipur. The park covers an area of 866 sq.kms. It is divided into sections of deciduous forests, grasslands, rocky landscapes and steep cliffs. The sanctuary inhabiatats a variety of wildlife species such as leopards, Sambhar deer, hyenas, crocodiles, woodpeckers, boars, Indian tigers, peafowls and a number of other avian species and marsh animals. The 'Siliserh Lake' and the 'Jai Samand Lake' encircles the Park, which are home to a number of crocodiles, water snakes and other amphibians.

    There are also many historical spots near to the Park such as the ancient 'Kankawadi Fort', the 'Nilkanth Temple', both built by the local Bargujars, and the Sariska Palace. Travellers can go for jungle safaris. Endangered species, such as the Indian tigers, are also sighted at this Park. The main pilgrimage spot near to the Park is 'Pandupole' believed to be built by the 'Pandavas'.

    The nearest airport to the Park is the Jaipur Sanganer Airport and the nearest railway station is at Alwar, at about 37 kms. The best season time to visit is from October to March. The Park can also be visited anytime throughout the year. The park is open to public from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM but stays closed on most national holidays.
