I along with my friends had a great holiday in Ladakh. I had an hour plane journey from Delhi to Leh. Leh is located in the Ladakh region of northwest India. Ladakh is a region of Jammu and Kashmir. It is one of the most remote areas for trekking in India. The word meaning of Ladakh is “The Land of High Passes”. This is an area of high altitude with awesome scenic beauty. leh_ladakh On our vacation through Ladakh we could experience the astonishing diversity of landscape and culture. The culture here is moderately influenced by the Tibetans. The main religion followed here is Buddhism. Ladakh region is more like Tibet than India and so it is nicknamed as “Little Tibet”. We had great trekking through abrupt gorges and flower filled grasslands. We could also see the famous Spiti horses breeding through the grasslands. If you are lucky then you may also spot a snow leopard, blue sheep or Tibetan ass. There we also visited monasteries, remote villages and the picturesque Tso Moriri lake. The lake was home to many migrant birds. The rest of the time we spent visiting the markets in Ladakh for buying local handicrafts, organic products, tribal jewelry, pearls and semi-precious stone.
