A short holiday getaway at Madikeri

It has almost become a habit of mine to visit one or the other hill station during summer holidays.  Last summer I along with my cousins planned a short holiday trip to Madikeri.  Madikeri is a hill station in Karnataka. It is also known by the name Mercara. We chose a journey by road from Coimbatore to Madikeri. It took around 7 hours to reach this beautiful destination. Our journey was rather tiresome. We reached there in the afternoon and put up at the Golden Mist Plantation guest house in Madikeri as pre booked. The place is the headquarters of Coorg, the famous tourist destination of Karnataka. Next day early morning at around 6 am we went to Mandalpatti. To watch sunrise from here was really awesome. The other main tourist spots we visited in Madikeri were Raja Seat, Madikeri Fort, and Omkareshwara Temple. We really enjoyed the scenic beauty and it is difficult to describe it in words. We felt so happy in the company of the serene nature here. The mountain slopes are covered with tall, green trees which give Madikeri a magnificent look and it’s an eye-catching sight during sunset. We also enjoyed watching the amazing beauty of the bright colored flowers and the snow covered peaks of the high mountains seen in a distance from here. Madikeri has a healthy climate. It is a beautiful summer resort. Our trip to Madikeri was memorable. We all look forward to visiting this place one more time.
