Kalimpong is a hill station of West Bengal. The place is known for its educational institutions, established during the British colonial period. The pleasant climate, magnificent Himalayan beauty and proximity to popular tourist locations make it a most visited tourist destination of West Bengal. Mac Farlen Church: This beautiful church was built in the year 1891 by the Scottish Missionaries. In the early days the sermons were made in 10 different languages such as Bodo, Nepali, Bengali, Hindi, English, Chinese, Lepcha , Sanskrit, Urdu and Tibetan for the purpose of spreading Christianity.
Tsonga Gumba: This is the oldest Bhutanese monastery of Darjeeling. This was built around the late 1600’s.
Nature Interpretation Center: This is an Ecological museum set up by forest department. The samples and photos of fauna like the beetles, butterflies and animals are exhibited here.
Zang Dhok Palri Phodang: This is also known as the Durpin Monastery. This is the largest monastery in Kalimpong. It is situated on the peak of Durpin hill. From here a majestic view of the town and Mt. Kunchenjunga can be seen.
Lepcha Museum: The musuem has various articles about the Lepcha culture and heritage. The entire area of the darjeeling and Sikkim is known as The land of the Lepchas. There are various articles of worship, original lepcha musical instruments and many other articles displayed here.
The Pine View Nursery: This is a famous Cactus nursery. There are almost 1500 varieties of cacti found here.
Morgan House: The Morgan House or the Singhamari is one of the oldest Colonial bungalows built by the British.
Deolo Hill: This is the highest point of Kalimpong town. From here you can see the entire Kalimpong Town, the magnificient Mt.Kanchenjunga, the surrounding villages and Relli valley on one side with the Teesta River on the other.
Hanuman Tok: There is a huge statue of Lord Hanuman approximately 25 to 30 ft in height located on a hill top. There is a small temple of Goddess Durga in front of the statue.
Science City: About a kilometer away from Deolo Hill is the Science city specially meant for children. This help to provide scientific awareness among the students and also the locals.
The best time to visit Kalimpong is from February to May. The nearest airport to Kalimpong is Bagdogra and the nearest railway station to Kalimpong is New Jalpaiguri.
