Kolhapur is a historical city in the Panchganga river basin of Maharashtra. The city has a textile manufacturing sector, known for the Kolhapuri chappal, a hand-crafted buffalo leather tanned using vegetable dyes. Mahalaxmi Temple: The Shri Mahalakshmi Temple of Kolhapur is one of the Shakti Peethas also called Dakshin Kashi. This is believed to be one of the six places where it is believed one can either obtain salvation. The temple architecturally belongs to the Kannada Chalukya Empire.
Bhavani Mandap, Old Palace: This is the temple of goddess Tulja Bhavani (also known as Bhavani) who according to mythology is a guest in her elder sister Mahalaxmi's city Kolhapur. The palace is just behind Mahalaxmi Temple. This was built around 200 years ago and it was the royal residence.
Rankala Lake: Rankala Lake is one of the main places of Kolhapur. There is a beautiful garden around the lake.

Khasbag Wrestling Stadium: Rajarshi Shahu Kashbag wrestling ground is on west side of Keshavrao Bhosale Drama theatre. It is used for wrestling competitions surrounding the main west area there is open space for 15 to 2000 spectators. There are total five gates for entering this wrestling ground.
Town Hall Museum: The museum displays Historical paintings and events, historical ruminants from bramhapuri, old paintings, coins, sculpture remains along with weaponry.
New Palace Museum: This is an ancient building on the Bahvani Mandap-Kasaba Bavda Road constructed during 1877-1884. This is an excelent specimen of architecture build in black, polished stone. It has extensive premises with a beautiful garden, fountain and wresling ground. The whole building is eight-angled and has a tower in the middle.
