India & Japan are planning to restore Nepal’s cultural heritage sites. Nepal’s cultural heritage sites have been devastated by the earthquake that rocked Nepal on 25th April. This is really a great initiative from the side of these two countries.
The earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 that hit recently in Nepal has destroyed many historic sites such as temples and squares of two major religions which attracted thousands of tourists from all parts of the world.
Three of the seven official UN World Heritage Sites in Nepal – the Durbar squares, Patan and Bhaktapur – were almost completely destroyed. Japan has offered support to the Archaeological Survey of india (ASI) to fix the damages and restore the temples in Nepal. The ASI has already started the restoration work on the Shri Pashupathinath Temple near Kathmandu.
