Narkanda, a hidden treasure of Himachal Pradesh

Narkanda is a beautiful hill station in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. It is about 60 kms from Shimla city. This town is located at an altitude of 2,708 meters on the Hindustan Tibet road. The place offers spectacular view of snow ranges. There are many scenic tourist attractions in the city. This spot offers an amazing view of the beautiful valley below. This peak is located at 7 kms from Narkanda and can be reached by trekking the mountain slopes. In the top of the peak, there is a PWD guest house, Hatu Temple and a small pond where you can relax after your tough trek. The peak is also famous for its skiing activities and hiking during winters when it snows, making the place looks like a white wonderland. The city has a very famous skiing resort in the state. The State Tourism Department also provides 7-day training to the enthusiastic people seeking professional help with learning skiing. The season time starts in December and ends in March. In winter, the temperature is very high and sometimes reaches freezing point. Heavy woolens are required. Narkanda receives heavy snowfall in winters. During summer, the climate is pleasant. The best season time here is from December to March. The city is also best for shopping. You can buy Himachali shawls, Pattoo blankets and caps as well as Pullans, which are shoes made out of wool from here. You can also find fine traditional items at the Himachal Hat outlets. There are many holiday rental accommodations available in the city such as resorts, guest houses, homestays, and cottages ensuring comfortable, safe stay with all required amenities. To reach the hill station is quite comfortable as you can reach there either by rail, road and airways. The nearest railway station is Kalka town, about 125 km away from the city. From there, Toy trains are available to reach Narkanda on the Kalka-Shimla route. The nearest airport is Shimla.
