My holiday stay in Cuttack

I visited Cuttack last November. Cuttack is one of the oldest cities of Odisha. I along with my family had a pilgrim tour to Bhubaneswar and on our way to Bhubaneswar we also visited Cuttack. We boarded Nandan Kanan Express from New Delhi early morning and got down at Cuttack by around 9.30 AM. In our entire journey to Orissa, the Website holidayrentals.co.in helped us a lot in advance booking of our accommodations. We stayed at Pramod Resorts in Cuttack. All the rooms and suites there were luxuriously furnished with an expanded array of most modern facilities. Cuttack is situated at the apex of the delta formed by the rivers Mahanadi in the North and Kathajodi in the South. We walked around the whole town and visited almost all popular spots there. The stone revetment protecting the river banks of Cuttack was really amazing. That was really a great engineering marvel of the 11th century A.D. By visiting these river banks one can very well understand the remarkable ancient technological skill of Orissa. [caption id="attachment_1351" align="alignnone" width="259"]barabati Barabati Fort[/caption] The Barabati Fort was the next spot we visited in Cuttack. We had a walk of just 4 kms to reach the Fort. There we could see the ruins of a medieval fort. The nine-storeyed palace on the banks of the river Mahanadi, and also the gate of the fort are worth watching. Now there is a stadium also next to the Fort. We also visited the temple of Cuttack Chandi and the sacred shrine of Quadam-i-Rasool. Quadam-i-Rasool is visited by both the Hindus and Muslims. The magnificent compound wall and towers at each corner in the shrine, the beautiful domes and the music gallery created a heavenly ambience. Cuttack is one of the best shopping places in Orissa. We could find the famous silver filigree works with intricate interwoven wires, horn and brass products, tie and dye textiles of Maniabandha and Sambalpur, decoration works of Pipli in charming cloth designs and the stone works of Puri in the shops there. Even though Cuttack is a small town, by this visit I could realize that Cuttack is one of the best tourist places to visit in Odisha.
