Maharashtra also known as ‘the land of Marathas’ is the 3rd largest state of India. The state, being in the western region of India, has been blessed with an abundant supply of natural resources. This is a biodiverse region rich in flora and fauna. Ganpatipule Beach:

Ganpatipule beach is a perfect holiday destination of the state with eye-catching scenic beauty, clear water, white sands and palm trees. The place also houses 400 year old temple of swaymbhu Ganpati ie; self originated. The birthplace of the famous Marathi poet, Keshavsut, Malgund is located at walkable distance from the beach. There you can witness the beauty of Shastri river, which has its own peaceful and coconut-fringed beach. You should also taste the delicious local preparations of the area like Ambapoli, Phanspoli, fish curries and Kokam Kadi. The best time to visit is from November to March.

Dahanu-Bordi Beach:

Dahanu-Bordi Beach is located at a distance of 145 kms from Mumbai. The beach tretches along the coastal line of Thane. It is famous for Chikoo orchards. The Bordi Beach is half an hour drive from Dhanu. This is popular for Casurina trees, coconut groves, and Chikoo Orchards.

These are a perfect destination that offers sports activities like gliding, trekking,  kite flying, etc. Tourists can experience trekking on nearby hills like Mahalaxmi, Asherigad, Bahrot, and Kahoj. Travellers can also visit the historical Bahrot Cave, which is mainly a pilgrim center of the Zoroastrians and Udwada that contains a thousand year old, still burning, sacred fire.

Juhu Beach is one of the most popular beaches of the state. This can be considered as the most posh beach famous for the eatables like bhelpuri and chat available at the food stalls. This beach is one of the most crowded beaches of the state. Tourists can enjoy a horse ride or donkey ride or camel ride here along with tasting the typical Mumbai snacks. It is located  in the north of Versova, which is Mumbai’s largest Koli (fishing community).

There are a number of beautiful holiday bungalows, luxurious resorts and apartments near to the beach. The best time to visit is from the months of October to February. It is best to avoid visiting the beach during the monsoon season as high tides are expected during this time.
