Arunachal Pradesh is a beautiful and picturesque Himalayan retreat that a traveller must visit at least once in a lifetime. Tawang:

Tawang is a beautiful hill station of the State. The place is located in the mountainous region at an altitude of 3,048 m above sea level. Th place is blessed with beautiful scenic environment and a large number of lakes in the surroundings. There are many monasteries in the area. This is also the birth place of the 6th Dalai Lama. The main tourist attraction here is the Tawang Monastery. This is a holy place for many Buddhist from the Tibet region. There is a tall statue of Lord Buddha in the monastery. There is a beautiful orchid sanctuary here.  

 

This is one of the trekker’s paradises of the state and offers breathtaking views to the tourists. Some of the important festivals celebrated here are Losar, Torgya, Choekor and Dupka Tse-She. The main places to visit here are Jaswant Garh, Tawang War Memorial, Manjushree Vidyapeeth, Craft Centre, Sangetser Lake, Banggachang Lake, Tsachu Hot Spring, Nuranang Water Fall, Bap Teng Kang, Geshila Peak, Gorichen Peak, Sela Peak, Thingbu Hot Spring, Tsachu Hot Spring. 

 

Tourists can taste unique cuisine in the area. The local food in Tawang contains a lot of chilies and fermented cheese.

 

The best time for Tawang sightseeing is from July to October. The nearest railway station is at Rangapara (Assam) and the nearest airport is at Tezpur at a distance of 343 kms from Tawang.

 

Bomdila:

Bomdila is a hill station situated in the West of Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. It is located an altitude of 2,530 m above sea level. The place is known for its scenic beauty. The hill station offers a panoramic view of the snow-capped Himalayan range. The town is famous for its Buddhist monasteries and apple orchards. This is a nature and adventure lovers paradise where you can explore the trekking trails. The hill station offers its visitors the mesmerizing view of Kameng Valley. The main attraction of this place is the Buddhist monasteries called as Gompas.The other most visited places are Nechipu Pass, Kangto and Gorichan peaks. The arts and crafts of the place are also famous.

 

There are a large number of trekking and hiking trails in the area. The hill station enjoys a pleasant climate throughout the year. The best time to visit here for sightseeing is from April to October. The nearest railway station and the nearest airport are at Tezpur which is 160 km away from Bomdila.

 

The nearby tourist attraction of the hill station is the Tawang Town. This is a small town north of Bomdila blessed with picturesque and breathtaking valleys of Dirang and Sela pass.

 

Itanagar:

Itanagar is the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. This is a most visited hill station of the state located at 750 m above sea level. The city attracts nature lovers as they can view scenic beauty all around. It is situated at the foothills of the majestic Himalayas and has pleasant atmosphere throughout the year. The city is also known as the Land of Dawn lit Mountains.

 

The main place to visit here is the Ita Fort constructed in the 15th Century. The city got its name from this fort. Another main place to visit here is the Gompa Buddhist Temple which was consecrated by the Dalai Lama. Jawaharlal Nehru Museum showcasing the rich tribal culture of the state is another must visit place. The city has a rich mixture of archeological sites of great historical value and built up resources and institutions of great socio-cultural significance.

 

The place is famous for many trekking routes starting from here. The other main attractions here are the Tsang Po River and Namche Barwa Mountain range. These two in Tibetan Himalayas and is really an eye-catching view. The river is known for its gushing crystal clear water which is a best rafters delight.

 

The best time to visit here for sightseeing is from October to March. The nearest airport to Itanagar is the Lilabari Airport in Assam and the nearest railway station is at Harmuty about 33 kms from the city. All tourists visiting here need an inner line permit.

 

Ziro:

 

Ziro Valley

 

Ziro is beautiful and picturesque hill station of the State. It is located at an altitude of 1,700 m above sea level. The place has landscape of beautiful lush green forest. It is famous for Paddy-cum-pisciculture cultivation and terrace paddy fields and unique system of poly-culture and water management of the Apatanis which can be seen only here in the country.  

 

Travellers are able to go for trekking and hiking on very good trails here. You can find the most important species of flora and fauna in Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. The other main places to visit here are Shiva Linga in the Kardo Hills, Namdapha National Park, Tipi Orchid Research Centre, Meghna Cave Temple, Craft Centre and the bridge at Daporijo.

 

The best time to visit the hill station is from February to October. The hill station enjoys pleasant climate throughout the year. The nearest railway station is at Harrmoty in Assam which is 23 km from Naharlagun and 33 km from Itanagar.  The nearest Airport is at Tezpur at a distance of around 300 kms from Ziro.
