The place is locally known as ‘Mini Tibet’ as the majority of the people residing here are Tibetan refugees. This small village is also nicknamed as 'Shimla/Swiss of Chhattisgarh’ because of its lush greenery and natural beauty. This is the best honeymoon destination of the state. The place is blessed with many beautiful hill slopes, jungles, waterfalls, and lush greenery. You can understand the culture and life of Tibetans by visiting the Tibetan settlement here. Travellers can find here many Tibetan refugee camps. The other inhabitants of the area are tribes like Manjhi Majhwar, Kanwar and Pahadi Korwa.

 

The main places to visit here are Dhakpo Monastery, Fish Falls, Tiger Point, Mehta Point and Pharphatia, Jaljali and Tatapan. Jaljali is a unique spot in the hill station which is a bouncing land and jumping here can create an earthquake. The place is a trekkers paradise and travellers can enjoy adventure sports like Para sailing, para-gliding, rappelling, mountain climbing, river crossing and tracking.

Chirmiri is a beautiful hill station in the Koriya district of the State. The hill station is also referred as the ‘Jannat/Heaven of Chhattisgarh’. It has the credit of being the second biggest crane in the Asian continent. The place is located at a height of about 579m above sea level. It is surrounded by lush greenery, temples, and coal mines. It has a pleasant climate throughout the year. There are a number of temples in the hill station which explains the rich cultural and traditional significance of the place.

 

The main place to visit is the Lord Jagannath temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu which is designed exactly like the famous temple at Puri. The most famous waterfalls here is the Amrit Dhara Waterfalls. This waterfall has a dense forest cover that has some of the exotic species of flora and fauna. There is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva near to the waterfall. Shivarathri festival is the main festival celebrated here. The other main pilgrim spots to visit here include Kalibadi in Haldibadi and Baigapara in Bartunga and Gufa Mandir in Godaripara.

 

Tourists can enjoy trekking or can stay in forest camps or else go for nature walks. Some of the local delicacies that you get to taste here are Tandoori Tikkas, Roti, Dhal fry etc. Pathway is one of the finest restaurants in Chirmiri serving both Vegetarian and Non-vegetarian.

 

The best time to visit here is in the winter months. This is an ideal time for sightseeing. The climate wil be pleasant between the months of October and April.

 

Baila Dila:

Baila Dila hills are one of the most attractive hill stations of the State. The hill station is located at an elevation of 1,276m above sea level. The place is located in the Dantewada district of the State. The hill station is blessed with enormous natural beauty such as scenic waterfalls, gardens and forests. These mountains are having rich deposits of iron ore. They are separated into two zones, namely the Bacheli and the Kirandul.

 

The mountain ranges of the hill station resemble the hump of an ox and hence got its name Baila Dila which means Bullock’s Hump in local language. On the topmost peak of this mountain is the Aakash Nagar. The iron ore mines are situated here. Another peak is the Kailash Nagar, which has deposits of Blue Dust, a blue coloured iron ore.

 

The best time to visit here is from October to March. Travellers can enjoy adventurous outdoor activities like trekking, hiking, and rappelling here.

 

Gadiya Mountain:

Gadiya Mountain is the highest mountain located in the Kanker district of the State. This mountain is also known as the Kila Dongri. The main tourist attraction here is the famous Doodh River flowing beneath the mountain. Mahashivaratri is the main festival celebrated here. Thousands of tourists and pilgrims come here for offering prayers. It is believed that there exists a water tank on the top of the mountain that never runs dry.

 

The other tourist attractions in this place are Shivani Temple, Charre Marre falls, Malanjhkudum Falls and Kanker Masjid. The best season to visit is the winter season in the months of October to March. The temperature remains comfortable and is apt for sightseeing.

 

Ambikapur:

Ambikapur hill station is located in the Surguja district of the State. The place is located at an elevation of 623m above sea level. The majority of the terrain in the region is full of dense forests and hills. This is a perfect holiday destination with temples, caves, hills, rivers, hot water springs and spectacular waterfalls. The main tourist attractions of the hill station are Ramgarh hill, Deogarh, Thin-Thini Patthar, Pawai Water Fall, Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary and the Semarsot Wildlife Sanctuary.

 

Jogimara Caves and Ramgir Mountains are the spots in the hill station where archaeological works are still going on.  The best time to visit this city is during the winter season, between October and March.
