Hill stations are a perfect vacation getaway during summer season. Madhya Pradesh, also known as ‘the Heart of India’ houses one of the best, beautiful hill stations of India, Panchmarhi. Panchmarhi is the most popular hill station of the State. This attractive hilly region is the only hill stoppage in the innermost part of the country. The other two hill stations here are Amarkantak and Shivpuri hill station.

Panchmarhi also nicknamed as 'Satpura ki Rani' is blessed with lush greenery, pleasant climate and also with picturesque natural beauty. The hill station is located at an elevation of 1,100 m. The place is dotted with dense sal forests, groves of wild bamboo and jamun, tranquil forest glades and delicate densely grown bamboo. Some rare species of orchids are also found here. The thick dense forest of this place houses wild boar, monkeys, tiger, panther, langur & monkeys.

 

The place is also a popular archaeological treasure land. There are a number of caves here, revealing the glorious past the place once had. Touirists can find here mesmerizing cave paintings which are about 10,000 years old. The most famous among the caves here is the Pandav caves, from which the place got its name. Jatashankar is an another must visit place here. This is a sacred cave dedicated to Lord Shiva. 

 

Priyadarshini Point is a scenic sunset view point in the hill station. The speciality here is the stunning view of sun sets among 3 peaks – Chauradeo, Mahadeo and Dhupgarh.

 

For adventure seekers, there is a tough 4 km trek to reach Duchess Fall through green forest area to see the beautiful water fall formed from multiple streams.

 

Beefall is the most famous waterfall in this hill station. To reach the actual waterfall, travellers need to trek down 2 kms countless stairs.

 

The hill station provides several options for food such as the Gujarati, Maharashtrian and Jain food. There are also a number of popular cuisines available. The local delicacies of the state include Dal Bafla, Biryani, Kebabs, Bhutte ki Kees, Korma, Poha, Rogan Josh, Jalebi, Ladoos as well as beverages like Lassi and Sugarcane Juice.

 

Some of the famous restaurants here are Nandavan Restaurant, Open Garden Restaurant, Pizza Cafe Chino, China Bowl and also Kolkata Food Centre serving traditional Bengali cuisines.

 

Summer season here are fresh with pleasant weather. The temperature during this season ranges between 22°C to 35°C. As the weather is pleasant during this time, travellers can enjoy sightseeing all day at different attractions such as Bharat Neer, Pandava Caves, Lanjee Giri, Priyadarshini Point and Harper Cave.

 

During the monsoon season, the place receives moderate rainfall. The weather remains cool at this time. There are many waterfalls here and monsoon is the best time to visit them. Travellers must visit Apsara Vihar, Bee Falls, Duchess Falls and Rajat Pratap.

 

From the beginning of November till March last is the winter season here. The temperature drops down to 4° Celsius in this season. Travellers should carry woolen clothes with them as the winters are extreme cold here. You can enjoy sightseeing at places like Jata Shankar Caves, Baba Mahadev Caves, Christ Church and Handi Khoh during this time.

 

Travellers can visit the place throughout the year except during rains. The best season time to visit this hill station is during the months from September to May.

 

Pipariya is the nearest railway station located about 47 kms from here and Bhopal is the nearest airport to the hill station. The place is well connected to other major cities of the state.
