Formalities required for visiting Sikkim
» Indian Nationals have no formalities to enter the State other than restricted areas.
» Foreigners must obtain Inner Line Permit (ILP) to visit Sikkim.
How to obtain ILP (Inner Line Permit)?
» ILP can be obtained from all Indian Missions, Sikkim Tourism Offices at New Delhi, Kolkata, District Magistrates Office of Darjeeling, Siliguri and Rangpo on the strength of an Indian Visa.
» The permit will be for 30 days duration initially and the State Government is authorized to extend the same by a further period of 30 days.
Documents required for obtaining ILP.
» 2 passport size photographs.
» Photocopies of passport and Visa.
Documents required In hand for an Indian Traveller to enter restricted areas of Sikkim.
» 3 passport size photographs of the traveller (for each destination).
» 3 copies of ID proofs bearing Address of the traveller (for each destination).
» Children below 5 years need to take School ID card with them.
» If children are above 5 years then Aadhaar card is mandatory.
Formalities to obtain Entry permit.
» Should collect and fill an Entry Permit form from the Regional Tourism Head Office, Gangtok.
» Fee of Rs 350/head to be remitted at the Gangtok office for the permit card.
» Permit will be issued only considering the vehicles to the particular area.
» Only 15 vehicles/day is permitted to Dzongu and 12 vehicles/day is permitted to Nathu La.
Cancellation of the Entry Permit.
» If there is any military action or any other security problems, the Entry permit will be cancelled within 2 hours without any prior notice.
» In that case, the paid amount for the Entry Permit will not be refunded.
